How often should a chimney be cleaned to prevent creosote fires?
Most homes should schedule a sweep at least once per year or every 70–80 fires, whichever comes first. If you burn softwood or notice heavy smoke, consider a mid-season check. We measure creosote buildup and document results in your report.

What’s included in a Level 2 chimney inspection?
A Level 2 inspection includes a video scan of flue liners, checks of clearances, chimney cap, crown, flashing, smoke chamber, and appliance connections. We provide photos and a condition grade with safety recommendations.

How far in advance should I book during peak season?
September–December books fast. We suggest booking 2–3 weeks ahead. If you have smoke issues or a known blockage, flag it—urgent cases receive priority routing where possible.

Are chemical chimney logs a safe replacement for professional cleaning?
No. Additives can loosen some deposits but won’t remove glazed creosote or structural hazards. They should be treated only as adjuncts—not replacements—for a proper mechanical sweep and inspection.

Will cleaning make a mess inside my home?
We use HEPA vacuums, drop cloths, and sealed tool paths. Our no-mess promise covers dust control and full cleanup. We also photograph pre/post conditions for your records.

Is there a fee for cancellations or rescheduling?
Appointments can be changed up to 24 hours before your slot without fees. Same-day cancellations may incur a $49 routing fee due to travel allocation.

Do carbon monoxide alarms relate to chimney safety?
Absolutely. Poor draft, blocked flues, or cracked liners can vent CO into living spaces. Pair annual service with CO detectors on each floor and near bedrooms.

What’s the difference between soot and creosote?
Soot is a fine powder from incomplete combustion; creosote is a tar-like condensate that can be flaky, crunchy, or glazed. Glazed creosote is highly flammable and requires specialized removal.
